Endurgerð lóðar við gamalgróinn grunnskóla, hönnun til útboðs. Réttarholtsskóli er gamalgróinn grunnskóli og stendur á tiltölulega stórri lóð efst í hverfinu. Lóðin hefur göngutengingar út í hverfið á allar hliðar og liggur hitaveitustokkur eftir henni endilangri. Skólinn er í nokkrum byggingum sem mynda mismunandi útirými. Í Réttarholtsskóla eru þrír efstu bekkir grunnskóla og var það haft í huga við hönnun lóðarinnar.
Í fyrsta hluta endurnýjunar var tekið sérstaklega fyrir leik- og dvalarsvæði nemenda með setsvæðum, útikennslurými, íþrótta- og leiktækjum. Svæðið er nokkuð skjólsælt milli aðal kennslubygginganna og íþróttahússins. Samkvæmt óskum nemenda var áhersla lögð á íþróttir og staði til að hittast og dveljast. Komið var fyrir fjölnota íþróttatæki frá Skólahreysti og litlum körfuboltavelli. Svæðið var á nokkrum pöllum sem skipt var upp með steyptum veggjum og þrepum. Veggjum var haldið eins og hægt var en opnað á milli rýma og unnið að þreplausum lausnum í anda „Universal design“. Hannaðir voru fjölnota setpallar fyrir dvalarrými og stauraborgir til skjóls og rýmismyndunnar. Litir í gólfefnum og húsgögnum kallast á við liti bygginganna, svart malbikið og gráa liti hellulagna og stálkanta.
English:Landscape design for an older school ground. The school is situated on a relatively big ground on top of a hill in established pedestrian area. The school is located in several buildings with different outdoor spaces in between. Some of the neighborhood pathways go through the school ground, among them an old concrete pipeline for geothermal hot water. The design takes in mind that Réttarholtsskóli is only for the three oldest classes in preliminary school.
First face of the renewal was the student’s recreation and play area, with sitting places, outside classroom, sports- and playground equipment. The area is quite sheltered, situated between the main teaching buildings and a small sports hall. The area was on several platforms, divided with concrete walls and steps. Most of the walls were kept, but the area was opened up with step-free solutions in the spirit of “Universal design” wherever possible. According to students wishes the focus was on sport equipment and places to meet and hang. Outdoor classroom was established, a multi-purpose sports equipment and small basketball court found their place. Multi-purpose wooden bench where designed for the recreation area and wooden poles create shelter for wind and a sense of place. Colors in flooring and furniture echoes the colors of the buildings, black asphalt and gray colors of the paving and steel edges.
